Alek Marduła’s collection (Podhale)
Alek Marduła – an inhabitant of Podhale region is musician and also electronics engineer. He has built his own recording studio with an analogue equipment, to document Podhale’s music. Beside he’s love for electronics, as a child Marduła used to take violin lessons from Mieczysław Galica in a music school. Later he and his brother would learn performing local music from famous Władysław Trebunia-Tutka. Due to unfortunant accident Marduła had to abandon violin, but he intended to keep music in his life so he started playing bass and documenting music of Podhale region. In his collection he has also many copies of the other musicians’ recordings, who ask him to make digital copies of the tapes from their home archives. Arek Maduła also has a collection of instruments and vinyls – not only with a traditional music.
Digitalizing Alek Maduła’s collection has been started by Magdalena and Jacek Jackowscy within the Polish folk music – phonographic heritage project, with a help of dr Bożena Lewandowska, who discovered this unusual music and engineering enthusiast.
