Phase I
The purpose of the project was to start phase I of activities aimed at precise determination of the state of resources and preservation of historical phonographic heritage of Polish traditional music while securing it as well as describing in a precise and systematic way.

1st Scientific Conference “Polska muzyka tradycyjna – dziedzictwo fonograficzne” („Polish Traditional Music – a phonographic heritage”)
Within the framework of the first phase of the project the conference „Polish Traditional Music – a phonographic heritage. Present state, preservation and sharing” was held. During the conference specialists of various scientific units presented their papers.

Phase II
The purpose of the second phase of the project was to continue the work aimed at creating one central digital repository of archival recordings of Polish traditional music. Resources of other institutions and collections were taken into consideration. Field researches were still carried on.

2nd Scientific Conference “Polska muzyka tradycyjna – dziedzictwo fonograficzne” („Polish Traditional Music – a phonographic heritage”)
Researchers from The Fryderyk Chopin Institute, The National Library, The Polish Radio, Phonographic Collection of Polish Academy of Sciences, The National Digital Archive as well as the Institute of Art of Polish Academy of Sciences took active part in the Conference.

Phase III
The purpose of the third phase of the project was to continue to works on digitisation, securing and sharing the recordings. The oldest part of the Phonographic Collection of the Institute of Art of Polish Academy of Sciences was digitised as well as the recordings of outside collections.

During the implementation of the project, in cooperation with Berliner Phonogramm-Archiv we published an album “Polish fold songs in Opole Silesia, collected on the phonograph by Paul Schmidt in 1913”.

Phase IV
Within the framework of phase IV of the project queries and research of the quantity and quality state of the cultural heritage such as archival documentary recordings of Polish traditional music were continued. An agreement between several institutions, archives and collections was reached.

The second phase of digitisation of the oldest carriers from the Institute of Art of Polish Academy of Sciences
In 2018 we continued the digitisation (which began in the previous year) of the original historical carriers – soft Decelith plates as well as varnished Pyral plates recoded soon after the end of WW2.
